Grand Piano Rims Lenght: Faces: These specialty panels are made from three thin Beech Hardwood veneers. The grain of the face veneers can either run in longitudinal direction or in cross direction. The cross veneered panels bend easier than the panels with the grain running in longitudinal direction. However, both types are commonly used by piano manufacturers. Alternating them enhances dimensional stability. The main reason for using these special panels is to dramatically reduce the common problem of warped rims. When laminating the Grand Piano Rims, the 3-ply DELIGNIT(R) panels are used in lieu of regular hardwood veneers. The standard width of these panels usually allows cutting of one layer each for the Outer Rim and for Blocking. These panels are not sufficiently decorative in appearance to allow them to be finished as they are. Use of decorative finishing veneers is necessary. | ||
